Swiss GriP makes bus stations slip-free

Swiss GriP makes bus stations slip-free for Translink Brisbane

Application Type:

  • Commercial

Translink is the public transit agency for Queensland. It was first introduced by the Queensland Government in June 2003 to orchestrate bus, ferry, rail and light rail services. Swiss GriP has been selected to make bus stations slip-free and protect travellers from slips and falls.

At several of Brisbane’s bus stations, the surface materials did not comply to the Australian Standard for Slip Resistance anymore. Areas includes tiles, vinyl and concrete. Previously, Translink used an anti-slip treatment. However, this etching solution did not work on vinyl and had limited durability on tiles and concrete.

Due to the excellent adhesion of Swiss GriP, it can be used on a wide range of surfaces and creates a durable, long lasting slip-resistant finish. It therefore requires less frequent reapplication than anti-slip treatments, saving costs and down time for travellers. Our coating is installed at 14 busway stations including King George Square, HAP, Greenslopes and Upper Mt. Gravatt. In total, about 800m2 has been made slip-free with Swiss GriP at the Translink busway stations.

All areas have been tested by SlipTest Australia, an independent, NATA accredited slip-testing company. Every area with Swiss GriP achieved a P5 slip-rating. This means all areas now meet or exceed the Australian Standard for Slip Resistance.
