The Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) is based in Narre Warren. It is the first Net Zero Energy education and research facility in Victoria. PICAC commits to sourcing environmentally friendly solutions and materials. Therefore, it selected Swiss GriP AQUA FLOORLINE to create a slip-resistant concrete ramp.
PICAC is an industry led organisation and supported by various organisations such as the Plumbing and Pipe Trades Employees Union (PPTEU) and Master Plumbers Australia. It was formed in 2009 during the millennium drought in Australia. Its goals are to provide courses in Green Plumbing.
The PICAC training campus in Narre Warren required a slip-resistant solution for a loading dock ramp. The original epoxy floor was extremely slippery in wet conditions. This caused several slips and falls. After a test, PICAC chose Swiss GriP AQUA FLOORLINE to create a slip resistant concrete ramp.
Concrete Floor Coating
Besides excellent slip-resistance and durability, Swiss GriP Aqua Floorline is water-based and VOC-free. This makes our coating system a sustainable solution, aligning with PICACs goals. Prior to the application, the original epoxy coating was sanded down. Next, our installer applied two layers of Swiss GriP AQUA FLOORLINE.
Unlike other coatings, Swiss GriP Aqua Floorline does not require a separate primer. Instead, the first coat is diluted with water. This layer penetrates into the concrete, creating excellent adhesion for the second ”finish coat”. This coat is also applied with the required slip-resistance level.
