Non-Slip Timber Bridges: Peninsula Kingwood Golf Course

Application Type:

  • Commercial
  • Timber

The Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club is just 35 minutes from central Melbourne. Peninsula combines two championship courses with an open-plan clubhouse, and ten on course accommodation rooms. Swiss GriP Non-Slip was used to create non-slip timber bridges.

Following a Swiss GriP installation at the Peninsula Kingswood in 2020, our coating was applied to additional timber areas in 2022. Before Swiss GriP came into the picture, the timber bridges had rubber matting installed to prevent guests from slipping. However, the rubber matting disrupted the natural look and design of the timber. Furthermore, the matting was hard to clean because dirt got trapped underneath the matting.

After successfully trialling Swiss GriP on timber for more than a year, the Peninsula Kingswood decided to remove the matting and have Swiss GriP installed. Besides P5 slip-rating, our coatings has also sealed the timber, protecting it against the elements. Moreover, it enhances the natural look of timber and protects it from discolouration due to UV-light. This makes Swiss GriP the leading solution to create non-slip timber bridges and walkways.

After Swiss GriP was applied, an independent slip-test company (SafeEnvironments) did a new slip-test of the timber. The tests confirmed the timber got upgraded to the requested P5 slip-rating.
