The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), located in Parkville, Melbourne is one of Australia’s leading public hospitals. With over 11,000 staff, it provides acute tertiary referral services as well as aged care, rehabilitation, ambulatory care and residential and community services through its Royal Park site. Swiss GriP Non-Slip was selected to create a slip-resistant entry area for the hospital.
The RMH also incorporates a Melbourne Private Hospital and is located at Royal Parade, Parkville. Safety is a key priority for the hospital and that is why it is focused to eliminate the risks for incidents. One such safety risks arose at the entry area to the Melbourne Private Hospital, where numerous staff, patients and visitors pointed out the high risk of slips and falls in wet conditions.
The entry area is composed of granite tiles which have been worn down over the years. Therefore, they did not comply to the Australian Standard for Slip Resistance (AS 4663-2013) anymore and posed a high risk for slips and falls. After a careful selection process, Swiss GriP Non-Slip was chosen as the preferred solution over an anti-slip treatment.
Swiss GriP Non-Slip was selected to the CSIRO-certified P4 slip-rating along with a No-Cure, No-Pay Guarantee. Furthermore, the hospital valued the antimicrobial technology of the anti-slip coating, as well as the resistance against detergents and disinfectants, allowing for an easy maintenance program. In total, our installation team applied the Swiss GriP Non-Slip Coating to 84m2 of granite tiles.
