This beautiful alfresco area in Ballarat has a swimming pool on the right side. The ceramic tiles were selected as being slip-resistant with a P4/R11 slip-rating. However, as soon as the surface got wet, it became extremely slippery.
In Australia, many tiles are sold as “slip-resistant” although when tested by an independent institution, they almost never reach the claimed slip rating in wet conditions. Because of this, our customer in Ballarat slipped several times and was looking for a solution without having to retile the whole area.
Because Swiss GriP is transparent and UV-resistant, it does not change the appearance of the surface. And most importantly, it is CSIRO-certified with a P5 slip-rating (slider 55) in accordance to AS 4586-2013. Therefore, it is the preferred solution to make surfaces like ceramic, marble, vinyl and timber slip-resistant.
After an intensive surface cleaning and the application of the Swiss GriP Primer, the Swiss GriP Non-Slip PRO coating was applied to the surface with our Graco HVLP Finish PRO Sprayer. In total, Swiss GriP Non-Slip was applied to 40m2 of ceramic tiles.
